Henry Deas Lesesne travel diary, 1846.

Small bound volume containing the travel diary of Henry Deas Lesesne includes a "List of Clothes" and a list of places visited and miles traveled. Lesesne records his travels (1846 June 15 - Oct. 14) with his sister Anna Caroline Lesesne, his wife Harriet, and Emma Palmer ("a free colored woman as servant") from Charleston, South Carolina to Richmond (Va.), Washington (D.C.), Baltimore (Md.), Philadelphia (Pa.), and New York (N.Y.). Entries also contain accounts of expenditures for passages, food, and other goods and services.
